Greg’s ability to lead by example—both professionally and in the community—makes him a standout leader.
Achievements, Advancements & Career-related Industry Contributions
Greg began his career in the aerospace industry, where he gained a deep appreciation for process and procedures and developed a passion for mechanical design. He contributed to projects modifying commercial planes into firefighting aircraft.
He went on to join APEM as a mechanical design engineer and quickly advanced to senior mechanical design engineer, managing all aspects of engineering, including new product development, sustaining projects, and value improvements. During his tenure, he was awarded two design patents for the thumbstick series.
Seeking mass production design experience, Greg moved to Fluidra, where he worked on the pool-cleaning robotics team. He contributed to the launch of two robotic cleaners, one of which won the MUSE Design Award, and helped establish the above-ground pool department, where he focused on quality processes and procedures.
He later served as vice president of engineering at Verity, a startup focused on sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics. In this role, he led the engineering department, managed project timelines, and helped shape the company’s values and culture.
Today, as an engineering manager at APEM/IDEC, Greg leverages his diverse experiences to support and guide his team. He prioritizes transparency, encouragement, and support, ensuring that his team thrives through both successes and challenges.
Non-work-related Activities & Hobbies
Greg enjoys deep-sea fishing, often heading out before dawn. For him, being on the open water is both meditative and physically challenging—a way to recharge while enjoying nature. The trips often provide fresh catches, perspective, and a reminder of life’s bigger picture.
Interesting Details
A first-generation U.S. citizen and college graduate, Greg navigated college on his own, an experience that taught him resilience and independence. This background inspired him to help others, and today he actively mentors engineering students and speaks at MESA/STEM programs in underprivileged high schools. He finds fulfillment in easing students’ paths and sharing his knowledge, believing that the more knowledge is shared, the more everyone benefits.
Why Greg Chose This Career
In high school, Greg excelled in math but initially considered becoming a chef or pursuing business, lacking a clear role model for college and career decisions. A mentor—two years ahead of him in school—encouraged him to consider engineering. After exploring the different disciplines, he was drawn to mechanical engineering for its diverse curriculum spanning mechanical, electrical, and software concepts.
Looking back, Greg is deeply appreciative of that guidance, as it led him to a field where he has found purpose and success.
