Stainless heat exchanger endures extremes

AlfaNova claims to be the world's first 100% stainless steel fusion heat exchanger. It can handle pressures to 650 psi, temperatures up to 1020 F, and pressure fatigue cycling that would destroy conventional brazed units. The totally stainless steel construction offers corrosion resistance to media that would attack copper. This construction also provides greater mechanical strength and improved levels of hygiene.

Fan improves energy efficiency

Powerfoil fan provides cooling in summer and energy-saving destratification in winter. The fan increases energy efficiency by almost 400% and costs nearly 50% less to operate in the winter compared to other fans. In addition, cold weather heating costs are reduced more than 25%. Winglets can be added to increase airflow by 4 to 7% and energy efficiency by 16 to 22%. Fans are available in diameters of 6 to 24 ft — the latter moving up to 334,000 cfm.

Annual Salary Survey

After two years of economic concerns, manufacturing leaders once again have homed in on the single biggest issue facing their operations:

It's the workers—or more specifically, the lack of workers.

The 2017 Plant Engineering Salary Survey looks at not just what plant managers make, but what they think. As they look across their plants today, plant managers say they don’t have the operational depth to take on the new technologies and new challenges of global manufacturing.
