With 13 international trade fairs scheduled – and with the hope of no volcanic interruptions this year – the 2011 edition of Hannover Messe will take place April 4-8, 2011 in Hannover, Germany.

The theme of the 2011 event is “Smart Efficiency" and exhibiting companies will present intelligent solutions aimed at cutting costs, optimizing process efficiency and conserving resources at every stage of the production chain.
Here is a summary of each venue at Hannover Messe:
Industrial Automation
For many years Industrial Automation has ranked as the leading flagship fair for process automation, factory automation and related systems. It showcases all the relevant areas of industrial automation from production and process automation to universal automation technologies.
The process automation section of the show moves to Hall 11, right next to the energy-related sections of Hannover Messe. The focus here will be on sector-specific solutions for industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and food, as well as the metalworking sector, the car industry, the energy industry and electrical engineering. The production automation section will present a wide array of integrated automation solutions, as well as innovations in mechanical engineering and electric power transmission and control.
Also featured at Industrial Automation are the information and communication technologies, without which industrial automation could not function. These include industrial communications as well as automation-related IT hardware and software. The special display, "Robotics and Automation" will demonstrate mobile robotics for industrial production, public undertakings and the service industry.
Motion, Drive and Automation
Motion, Drive and Automation is the leading trade fair for power transmission and control, which takes place once every two years as part of Hannover Messe. It showcases the complete spectrum of electrical and mechanical power transmission and control technologies as well as all the latest innovations in hydraulics and pneumatics.
The headline themes for 2011 are energy efficiency, lifecycle management and condition monitoring systems. The new trade fair Mobilitec completes the line-up in Hall 25. More examples of power transmission and control technology can be seen at industrial automation and wind.
More than 1,300 manufacturers of gears and transmissions, roller bearings, electric motors, pumps, cylinders, filters, hoses and seals, as well as many other components used in power transmission systems, will be exhibiting in Hannover next year.
Energy
As the world’s largest trade show for energy technologies, the leading international trade fair Energy is a unique showcase for the energy mix of the future and covers both conventional and renewable energy generating technologies. Energy and its three companion trade shows – Power Plant Technology, Wind and MobiliTec – document the complete energy cycle, from generation, supply, transmission and distribution to transformation and storage. And common to all the energy-related displays will be the overarching theme of Hannover Messe 2011, namely "Smart Efficiency."
Also back again in 2011 is "Hydrogen and Fuel Cells," Europe’s largest joint presentation for these cutting-edge technologies. Here specialist firms will be presenting systems for hydrogen production, fuel cell components, stationary, portable and mobile fuel cells, and their applications.
Digital Factory
As the leading trade fair for integrated processes and IT solutions, Digital Factory will focus on industrial software solutions, especially solutions for production and product development designed to be integrated into corporate processes. This year the theme of visualization proved a popular addition to the program at Digital Factory, and the coverage continues in 2011. For the fourth year in succession Digital Factory is hosting the special display RapidX, which documents the process chain for product development and production.
This year’s show features the "Festo Fast Factory," presented in association with premium industry partner Festo. The Digital Factory portfolio also embraces Virtual Product Development (CAx), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Product Development (CAD), Production and Process Planning (ERP, PPS), Simulation, Manufacturing and Automation (MES), Process Integration, Order Processing, Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Manufacturing as well as Technical Sales and Service (CRM).
Industrial Supply
In 2011, many of the displays at Industrial Supply will focus on the more efficient use of materials and resources, while the overarching theme of "Lightweight Construction" will be further developed at the Solutions Area and the Materials Forum for Lightweight Construction. As the leading trade fair for industrial subcontracting and lightweight construction, industrial supply accounts for the largest single block of exhibitors at Hannover Messe, making it a powerhouse of innovation within the line-up and the most important event for global sourcing. With so many sectors of industry represented at Hannover Messe it is an important mirror of the end-to-end process chain for the component supply and subcontracting market, embracing materials know-how and technology know-how, design and development, parts, components and systems. A whole series of well-established forums, special displays and themed presentations once again provides in-depth coverage of many topic areas featured at next year’s Industrial Supply.
Research and Technology
In recent years Research and Technology has become an important showcase for new technologies at Hannover Messe, and from 2011 the show will be known as the Leading Trade Fair for R+D. It is the premier marketplace for research findings and pioneering industrial developments, with the primary focus on technology transfer between the science lab and industry.
