NAM welcomes EPA rule streamlining release regulations

The National Association of Manufacturers Tuesday welcomed new EPA regulations easing reporting requirements on toxic releases from more than 24,000 manufacturing, mining and waste management facilities.

“By streamlining the regulation process, the EPA will ensure continued improvement in the nation’s environmental quality while sustaining economic growth,” said NAM president John Engler.

The final rule, promulgated pursuant to the Toxics Release Inventory program, will allow more businesses to use a shorter, simpler disclosure form.
