Manufacturing jobs on the rise, and skilled workers needed
That's not news to Plant Engineering readers, but CNN is reporting manufacturing job growth is outpacing the rest of the private sector
CNN is reporting on the issue Plant Engineering has been reporting on through 2010 Manufacturing jobs are growing at about 1.6% over the last 12 months, double the rate of other private sector jobs, according to CNN. The growth is being fueled by a shortage of skilled workers to fill high-tech and computer-driven manufacturing jobs.
– there’s growth in American manufacturing jobs and a Skills Gap in American manufacturing.
CNN quotes Donna Carroll, vice president with Adecco, as saying, "Manufacturing is very robust for us right now. Skilled machinists and machine operators in some places are getting tougher to come by."
