ASME starts company, expands reach in China

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers has established a limited liability company named ASME Asia Pacific, LLC, enabling the society to further its global outreach in codes and standards, conformity assessment, continuing education and other programs. The Beijing-based office will form the base of operations to advance the society’s growth in an area that the organization considers a key market for engineering services.

In addition to promoting understanding and use of codes and standards programs in the growing markets of the Asia Pacific, the company will be engaged in expanding the reach of the society’s engineering workforce short courses and training seminars throughout the region.

“ASME Asia Pacific will provide the society an on-the-ground presence in growth markets,” said Virgil R. Carter, executive director of ASME.
