Tyler Robertson, 33

Robotics Engineer, Taylor Guitars, El Cajon, Calif.

BS Engineering, University of Guelph

Tyler was deadset on software development as a career, but he learned from an older engineer at a job fair that while controls engineering was similar to software engineering, it would allow him to make machines move and get dirty at the same time. Since graduating from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, he has been working in the robotics and automation industry. Over the years, he has participated in a wide range of projects from aerospace to the guitar industry. A high-level Mastercam CAD/CAM user and instructor, Tyler is specifically adept at 5-axis toolpath strategies and complex geometry; as an instructor and designer he is mindful in the way he brings complex topics to manufacturing personnel from every skill set. As newcomers to the U.S., Tyler and his spouse love to spend time hiking the national park trails and biking in California weather. Tyler has also toured with across Canada with his band multiple times and additionally, he is a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu blue belt. He will one day be satisfied achieving a brown belt.
