Wonderware is targeting specific vertical market segments. With the recent release of its IndustryPack, which is designed to enhance overall productivity in water and wastewater facility operations, the company, a business unit of Invensys, hopes to provide a single unified software platform for integrating real-time information with business-critical applications.
The water and wastewater IndustryPack is a pre-configured set of application templates and graphics specifically built for use by water and wastewater companies and municipalities. Pre-configuring content is intended to aid system engineers to minimize the cost and complexity involved in creating and managing water and wastewater systems. Available for download by customer support members sometime in June, the software will address issues such as workforce attrition, regulatory requirements, business factors, source water supply and aging infrastructure.
Built on Invensys’ unified ArchestrA technology, the software targets both municipal and industrial water and waste treatment operations. ArchestrA is said to simplify reporting and management functions performed by operations personnel, allowing them to build systems that are easily replicated.
In a manufacturing environment, the ability to synchronize water treatment systems with overall manufacturing operations provides greater operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. Integrating data sources and transforming raw data and events into meaningful and contextual information contributes to increased productivity by reducing operations costs and identifying hidden efficiencies.
