Motorola, Inc. and Symbol Technologies, Inc. completed Tuesday the merger of the two companies that was originally announced last September. Symbol will be the core of Motorola’s enterprise mobility business as it becomes a part of Motorola Networks & Enterprise.
“Through our merger with Motorola, we have delivered value to our shareholders and have created a business that is uniquely positioned to provide enterprise customers with an unrivaled product portfolio,” said Sal Iannuzzi, president of the new enterprise mobility business and former president and CEO of Symbol.
The new business’ device portfolio will range from mobile office devices to rugged mobile and wearable computers. It will provide enterprise wireless infrastructure products, field network solutions, bar-code scanning, RFID solutions and network design and management software.
“By combining our complementary technology portfolios, deep industry-specific domain knowledge, sales channel and customer bases, the new Motorola enterprise mobility business establishes itself as a global leader in providing real-time technology solutions for customers,” said Greg Brown, president of Motorola Networks & Enterprise.
