Rick Pierro, Superior Controls, joins Control Engineering editorial advisory board

Rick Pierro, president and co-founder, Superior Controls, joined the Control Engineering editorial advisory board in July.

Control Engineering announces that it has re-established an editorial advisory board to provide input to editorial staff on editorial content, relevancy, automation market, and audience; to serve as a first-level sounding board for new initiatives and ideas; and to participate in events and contribute editorially. Among those named on July 8, Rick Pierro is president and co-founder of Superior Controls, an engineering firm providing automation and information systems for manufacturing.

Pierro is on the board of directors of the Control System Integrators Association (CSIA). He received an MS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lowell-Mass in 1983, a Bachelor’s in Chemistry from Boston University in 1981, and has attended business and finance classes at Harvard Business School. He serves on the board of directors of Atrex Energy, a fuel cell manufacturer; Acumentrics Corp, a rugged UPS manufacturer; MindChild Medical Inc., a developer of fetal heart monitoring equipment; E-Trolz Inc., a manufacturer of intelligent controllers for the medical device industry; MIRtle Medical, a developer of EKGs for the MRI; and Degree Controls Inc., a leading manufacturer of cooling systems for computers.

Pierro also serves on the Board of Advisors to the University of Mass-Lowell Engineering Departments and is a past recipient of the Francis College of Engineering "Distinguished Engineer Award." He is also a past president of the Boston-International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers and frequent guest speaker on automation and future trends in automation.

Superior Controls, based in Seabrook, N.H., is a 2012 Control Engineering System Integrator of the Year.
