IIoT Webcast poll: Cybersecurity a significant issue
Archive version of Webcast now available, which highlights cybersecurity as a major concern for many plant and IT managers.
Cybersecurity is a significant concern for many plant and IT managers as they contemplate implementing the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), according to the results of a survey taken at CFE Media’s recent IIoT Webcast.
The Oct. 20 Webcast, the third in a four-part series of IIoT informational Webcasts produced by CFE Media, was presented by Alex West and Brian Arbuckle from IHS Markit Research and focused on cybersecurity. During the Webcast, 37.5% of attendees said cybersecurity concerns were their number one reason for not introducing IIoT into their plants. Another 15.6% said while their plant does use IIoT, they do not believe their current cyber security is sufficient.
While 9.3% of attendees have invested in cybersecurity as part of their implementation, another 28% have yet to invest in IIoT, but say cybersecurity is not the reason for that decision.
