D-Link patches router bugs
New firmware is out for D-Link router models that have a vulnerability attackers could use to gain control of the device.
Tactical Network Solutions researchers gave details of the vulnerability to D-Link officials in October.
D-Link released the new firmware last week for DI-524, DI-524UP, DIR-100 and DIR-120 routers. While that is the good news, the bad news is there are other models that suffer from the vulnerability. That list also includes DI-604S, and DI-604UP, DI-604 +, TM-G5240 and possible versions of DIR-615.
In its security advisory, D-Link urges customers to beware of unsolicited emails related to these vulnerabilities. The company said it never sends notifications asking users to install or click on something.
The router models for which updates have been released are old, so it actually may be a better idea to change the devices altogether.
