Plant Engineering magazine will host its Manufacturing Summit in Chicago from Sunday, April 1 to Tuesday, April 3. This unique event will bring together the top leaders in manufacturing strategy and product development with plant managers throughout the country.
The Summit is designed to help plant managers learn about the latest in technology and techniques that will help their plants run better, faster and smarter. This is accomplished through bringing plant managers from around the country together with product managers and top industry leaders to exchange new ideas and highlight success stories in manufacturing.
The Summit will be highlighted Monday, April 2 with a gala banquet honoring the 2006 Product of the Year recipients and the 2006 Top Plant award winners. Dave Petratis, president and CEO of Schneider Electric North America, will deliver the keynote address.
Representatives from Toyota of Georgetown, KY; BMW of Spartanburg, SC; and Square D of Lincoln, NE will be on hand to receive the 2006 Top Plant award, and the winners in the 17 Product of the Year categories will be on hand to receive their awards. Also handed out is the 2006 Grand Award, given to the product which received the most votes from readers in the exclusive Plant Engineering online balloting.
On Tuesday, April 3, a breakfast Roundtable discussion will feature the plant managers from the three Top Plant winners to discuss how to build and maintain excellence in manufacturing today.
There will also be three education tracks for plant managers at the Summit:
Manufacturing Execution Systems : How MES is being deployed on the plant floor, and how plant managers can best benefit from the new technology.
Wireless monitoring : What can plant managers gain from more measurement points on the plant floor, what are the new standards on the horizon, and what are the challenges and opportunities of wireless monitoring?
Energy efficiency : The energy price spikes of last summer showed again why the prudent use of energy is important. Experts from all segments of the energy spectrum will take a look at what plant managers can do to manage energy costs on the plant floor.
