Pepperl+Fuchs has introduced a new 8″ tablet for hazardous areas, providing reliability and durability for mobile workers. The hazardous area rated tablet Tab-Ex 05, developed in collaboration with Samsung, is based on Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5 and includes Samsung Knox for data and device security.
The Tab-Ex 05 is compact and lightweight, featuring an updated operating system that supports operation in hazardous areas including ATEX/IECEX Zones 1/21 and 2/22 and US/Canadian NEC Class I,II/Division 1 and Class I, II/Division 2. It meets European standards and regulations and is certified for global use through Android Enterprise Recommended and Common Criteria. Operating system updates up to Android 22 and security updates until 2032 provide extended support.
The device has 6 GB RAM and 128 GB ROM, expandable via micro-SD to up to 1 TB. It includes a 13 MP back camera and a 5 MP front camera. The tablet is designed for use with gloves and the S Pen, even in wet conditions. With IP68 certification, it is resistant to water and suitable for various weather conditions.
With Samsung Wireless DeX Mode, the tablet enables desktop functionality, supporting mobile and desktop use without requiring an additional PC. This capability helps streamline workflows and minimize hardware costs.
In addition, Samsung KNOX, a security solution, helps protect devices from unauthorized access and supports secure data storage and processing. Its security features help reduce risks and protect data integrity on devices and in the cloud.
The Tab-Ex 05 is carrier- and MDM-certified, allowing integration with IT infrastructure and mobile device management systems. Designed to integrate with enterprise systems, Tab-Ex 05 supports enterprise mobile needs.
