Small and medium size manufacturers comprise approximately 90% of manufacturing establishments but use only 50% of the energy consumed by industry. But these facilities also pay higher energy prices, so savings add up to a larger percentage of facility costs. As a result, several efficiency programs now offer a suite of programs targeting this business sector.

Based on a recent ACEEE report, "One Small Step for Energy Efficiency: Targeting Small and Medium-Sized Manufacturers," which analyzed how efficiency programs are offering manufacturers energy audits to identify opportunities, rebates and informational materials.
