Problem: Belt-driven air handlers are exhibiting unusual vibration, leading to questions concerning belt and sheave condition, belt tension, and overall installation practices. How can you maximize belt performance?

Solution: Training, training, training. Make sure maintenance technicians are versed in belt drives, types, sheave standards, tensioning, and mechanical alignments. Vibration, noise, belt wear, and unscheduled downtime due to belt failures drop significantly.

Major belt manufacturers offer the necessary training aids. Remember that there is a lot more to a belt maintenance program than just getting it tight.
