Why Shachi is an Engineering Leader
Shachi Mangoli is dedicated to her craft, her team and her community. Shachi is a voracious learner, tenacious project manager, skilled communicator and a true leader. She has proven her financial acumen and technical talent by implementing controls systems and programs upgrades throughout the Florida Power & Light (FPL) fleet. She leads innovative solutions for real-time power plant monitoring, optimizes alarm management, reports out to executives on team and individual goals, and serves her community by promoting girls and women in STEM.
Achievements, Advancement & Career-related Industry Contributions
Shachi’s academic achievements at the University of Florida include participation in various engineering and service organizations, multiple internships in the Environmental and Engineering departments of FPL, and participation in the Rotational Engineering program upon graduation. During her 36-month rotation program, Shachi developed robust cooling tower water quality models and dashboards, provided financial modeling for the pre-production pricing of an advanced water treatment facility, and demonstrated her interest in SCADA and controls. Subsequently, she has participated in a novel project to synergize and combine the control rooms of twelve power plants to a single location. Her work on the 3-site pilot included alarm response and prioritization, development of remote moisture and pH detection applications in order to redeploy human capital, and coordinate remote-worker and HMI activities. She has supported wind, solar, natural gas and even early-stage hydrogen projects.
Non-work-related Activities & Hobbies
Shachi is committed to programs sponsored by the Urban League of Palm Beach County such as Girls Who Code and the Habitat for Humanity’s Women’s Build projects. She has grown up in Palm Beach County and understands the value of propping up those in the community with less advantages. She understands first-hand what being a woman of color can mean and wants to change the direction for young people in her community.
Shachi is a loving daughter and sister. She has taught her nominator’s daughter science and robotics and her passion for controls is truly refreshing.
