Achievements, Advancement & Career-related Industry Contributions

Josh joined Maverick Technologies’ Baton Rouge office as an Associate APC Engineer. Over the next several years he worked in numerous processes on his way to Senior Engineer rank (making Bio-diesel, plastics, rubber, cardboard, ULSD, and jet engine lubricant, among others). These projects spanned 5 major DCS platforms, working with customers to develop & optimize controls and HMI for entire units, platform migrations, replicating a third-party application, automating procedural operations for semi-continuous and batch processes, as well as supporting loop-tuning, checkouts & turnaround work. Josh also wrote a handful of articles featured in Control Engineering magazine and co-authored another for Hydrocarbon Processing. After a year gaining key commercial experience in Maverick’s Proposals & Estimating Group, he moved into a Project Manager role. Josh was then tabbed to move to Houston to take over a struggling project portfolio for a critical customer. Though juggling dozens of other projects while earning his PMP certification, this program went on to generate over $13MM, and he considers this his proudest customer relationship. Midway through 2019, he was promoted to his current role of Operations Manager for Maverick’s Automation Solutions South region, leading a team of more than 50 engineers.

Non-work-related Activities & Hobbies

Josh loves to travel. Usually, he makes smaller trips for barbecue competitions, but just before the COVID-19 pandemic he toured Israel and Jordan. He is fascinated by ancient architecture, and it has been a lifelong dream to be able to physically see and appreciate the holy land, so this was a spectacular experience.
