Achievements, Advancement & Career-related Industry Contributions
Jonathan started out as a Co-Op while finishing his Engineering degree. Once he graduated and became an Engineer, his first project was a large DCS migration for a paper machine that he worked on from design to startup. He continued to gain experience, learning different controls platforms and industries, for customers located in the US and overseas with both large migrations and small PLC and DCS projects. He moved from an individual contributor to a Lead Engineer on a large-scale greenfield project in the aviation industry. Building on those skills, he entered Project Management to build and support teams to execute at a high level. Jonathan managed multiple projects of all sizes and scope and took the Operations Manager position to lead a team of Engineers, Project Managers, and Subject Matter Experts. In this role he continues to support and build his team to execute all controls and systems integration projects while driving business growth in targeted areas.
Non-work-related Activities & Hobbies
Jonathan enjoys playing golf and being outdoors in his free time. Taking his family to the beach or his son to the course is the definition of a perfect day.
Interesting Details
- Jonathan is very hands-on and while working on projects, he would often build test panels from scratch for proof of concepts using the same hardware that would be on-site to validate communications, setup, and panel design and layout.
- This also translates into working on things at home and using his skills to upgrade and renovate his home.
Why did they choose this career?
Jonathan feels as though this career chose him. Out of college, he did not know what the controls field was. He started as an intern through an acquaintance and fell in love with the industry. It combined all of the things he loves and allows him to work in many different industries to support and improve manufacturing while working and building teams.
