Ben’s high energy and enthusiasm is contagious with our team and clients. Clients often request his return on projects. Ben sets an example of professionalism with a focus on effectively listening to the client and providing top quality work. He is tenacious at problem solving and quickly adapts to new ideas and approaches. He’s recognized as a key leader within our three offices. Ben was featured on the front page of the Global System Integrator Report for his work on the Ramskeller project.
Achievements, Advancement & Career-related Industry Contributions
Ben has led the effort on a unique, highly automated brewing system in the “Ramskeller” at Colorado State University. In addition to donations from equipment and software vendors, Malisko Engineering has donated Ben’s time to provide the university with a state-of-the-art system that has been used to give students an industry example of controls, electrical, chemical, and mechanical engineering design. Ben has also been the process control lead for a one-of-a-kind pharmaceutical processing skid. His ability to steer conversations between Process Development, Quality, Validation, and Controls has cemented Malisko’s position at their client for 3 years, with more work planned. Ben loves to get his hands in any system passed his way, breaking down the components and figuring out how best to implement upgrades or design a new unit. Ben has been a key member of an internal effort to standardize the Malisko Engineering design package to provide their clients with a robust, effective, and clean UI/UX.
Non-work-related Activities & Hobbies
Ben has brewed a few batches of beer on a homebrewing system he got for his birthday. He wanted to get hands-on experience with the brewing process after working on automated systems for years. Ben played a key role on our Company Day of Sharing, purchasing toys for Father Woody’s Haven of Hope to benefit children. Ben takes a yearly trip to the Utah desert with his dad to explore back-roads and off-road trails, hunting for new natural arches to photograph.
- Ben has played a new disc golf course in every city he’s traveled to for work. His count is over 50 across 11 states.
- Ben is impressively quick on making quick and informed decisions. This is a quality quickly earns the trust or our team and our clients. He exudes confidence with a thoughtful demeanor. This confidence is also displayed often by Ben’s willingness to accept new challenges and approach to learning new things in short time.
Why did they choose this career?
Ben grew up watching “How It’s Made.” Now he gets to lead and be a part of the teams that make it all work. “It has been so fun and humbling getting to see how integrated the world of manufacturing is. Someone like me has dedicated hours and hours of their time to get products out into the world.”
Ben is proud of the work he completed on the first Mixer recontrol project that he and a coworker completed successfully. The result of the work kicked off an internal standards development effort to benefit others.
