What Makes Lane an Engineering Leader

As plant engineer, Lane has a strong record of executing complex engineering projects at Joy Cone. His work spans automated batch-handling systems, additional production lines and building construction, with a significant emphasis on automation.

Lane designs, develops and implements successful solutions to dynamic problems. His impact is felt not only at the plant level but also in the company’s corporate strategy. As a talented young engineer and leader at Joy Cone, his expertise supports teams across departments.

Leadership & Industry Contributions

During Joy Cone’s most recent building expansion, Lane led a team of contractors, architects, engineers and installers while maintaining a demanding construction schedule. In addition to leading the expansion, he helped develop the justification for and installation of a racking system and decentralized palletizing project.

The project was completed six months ahead of schedule and $2.1 million under budget. Lane coordinated numerous critical steps, including equipment delivery and installation around the pouring of the concrete slab; startup of each system around certificate-of-occupancy deadlines; and ongoing production and warehouse operations. During a tour with corporate leadership, his contributions were recognized by the design team.

Outside of Joy Cone, Lane serves as treasurer on the STEM City board. The nonprofit recognizes STEM partners and teachers in the community each year and hosts an event where the public can engage with educators and community partners in the diverse world of STEM.

Lane also teaches two Automation and Industrial Technology classes at the community college.
