Ryan has established himself as an expert in the field of Laser Analytical Gas Measurement very early in his career. He is intelligent and has an excellent understanding Laser Analyzers and how they are applied, but what really motivates him is using knowledge to help others achieve their goals. One of the keys to his success is his ability to communicate a complex subject with a wide range of co-workers and clients, and gain their trust and mutual respect. Having someone like Ryan with a high level of intelligence, willingness to continuously learn and great interpersonal skills is a rarity.
Achievements, Advancement & Career-related Industry Contributions
Ryan has his engineer-in-training license and is working on obtaining his Professional Engineering license. He also is a certified Product Manager. He has gone from an Intern, to a Product Specialist for supporting a variety of products, to a Product Manager for four different major product lines, and is now in Business Development. He maintains relationships with a variety of key customers, has assists with new product development, and sits on a variety of API Recommended Practice committees to assist with technical input and content writing.
Non-work-related Activities & Hobbies
In the past year Ryan has been working home renovations including drywall, electrical, plumbing, painting, trim work, tile, and flooring to finish a home for his fiancé and her children. They have moved in sooner than anticipated due to a tornado, which rendered his fiancé’s home unlivable. Moving in early has accelerated the renovation process, and Ryan works on the project almost daily after work.

- Ryan is both personally, and professionally, always engaged in problem solving activities. In his personal life he enjoys repairing and building various things, and the research and planning involved in those activities.
- In a professional setting he likes difficult challenges, from internal business decisions, to approaching new accounts, to helping customers tweak spectroscopic modelling and reprocessing those changes to analyze the results in efforts to troubleshoot or improve results.
Why did they choose this career?
Ryan attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, and was awarded with a degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering while serving as an intern at Yokogawa. After being exposed to the atmosphere of problem solving directly with customers as an intern, Ryan knew that he would rather work on a variety of challenging customer issues rather than being a process engineer in a professional setting. The family-like atmosphere at Yokogawa, combined with Ryan’s desire to work in a customer-facing, problem solving, role drove Ryan’s decision to continue with Yokogawa post-graduation.
