Three people have been shot to death and five others wounded at an ABB transformer manufacturing facility in St. Louis on Thursday. The shooting happened after 6:30 a.m. Thursday when the gunman reportedly went into the facility armed with a rifle and a handgun.

KMOX-TV in St. Louis was reporting Thursday afternoon that the gunman, identified as 51-year-old Timothy Hendron of Webster Groves, MO, had been found elsewhere in the plant with a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Three of the wounded were in critical condition and two were in fair condition, police said.

Hendron reportedly was involved in a pension benefit lawsuit with ABB.

"This is obviously a very serious situation and we are working to gather more information as it becomes available,” said a statement from ABB’s corporate headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. "The welfare of our employees is of utmost importance to us.”
