The International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS 98), previously called the “Machine Tool Show,” presents the world’s most advanced manufacturing equipment, controls, computers, and software. The new technology offerings are expected to light a spark under machine tool orders, which traditionally fall behind the annual pace in the months preceding the biannual show.

June U.S. machine tool consumption totalled an estimated $597 million, up 10% compared to May, but down 25% compared to June 1997. Orders for the first six months are down 8%, compared to 1997.

IMTS 98 is Sept. 9-16 in Chicago.
