Tool aligns V-belt pulleys

SheaveMaster mounts magnetically to the face of a pulley. A permanently calibrated laser beam fans out, striking three magnetic targets on the opposite pulley and measures angular, offset, and twist misalignment of the drive. The device can also be used on chain drives. It only requires one person to operate and can be used indoors and outside. Ludeca, Inc.; www.ludeca.com

Belt increases capacity and cuts maintenance

Poly Chain GT 2 belt is ideally suited for synchronous drives less than 500 rpm and horsepowers up to 1200. The belt transmits up to 30% more power than its predecessor does. This version permits the design of more compact, lighter weight drives. When combined with Taper-Lock sprockets/bushings, lifetime parts replacement and maintenance costs are reduced. Seal stops leakage during maintenance

Inflatable Safety Seal is a pneumatic, inflatable product used for static shaft sealing. When used with a mechanical seal, this device can be inflated to provide a positive seal, preventing product leakage if the primary shaft seal fails. The inflated seal also prevents product loss during seal maintenance. It is available in shaft sizes from 2.75-8 in. A. W. Chesterton Co.; www.chesterton.com

Annual Salary Survey

After two years of economic concerns, manufacturing leaders once again have homed in on the single biggest issue facing their operations:

It's the workers—or more specifically, the lack of workers.

The 2017 Plant Engineering Salary Survey looks at not just what plant managers make, but what they think. As they look across their plants today, plant managers say they don’t have the operational depth to take on the new technologies and new challenges of global manufacturing.
