Hydraulic tank breather

Des-Case Hygroscopic Breathers remove moisture and particulate from wet, dirty air entering hydraulic tanks, gearboxes, or large tanks. The device employs a desiccant to extract water vapor from the air and a microglass, pleated filter to remove particles down to 1-micron. In-line gear reducers

A series of gear reducers are compatible with any positive displacement pump or other equipment needing speed reduction. The input and output shaft are in-line for easy alignment and space savings. Ratios vary from 2.6:1 to 35.1:1. Horsepower ranges from 0.5 to 350. Viking Pump, Inc. vikingpump.com Write 312 on PE card

Digital gauge

DGR-1 digital pressure gauge is battery-operated, providing up to 1400 hr of continuous operation and displays pressures up to 15,000 psi. Features include: readings in bar, Mpa, kPa, and mbar at the touch of a button, automatic shut-off, maximum and minimum pressure capture, zero reset, and a 355-deg display rotation. Tough hose bends easily

472TC hose is for high-impulse applications requiring superior flexibility. It features a one-half SAE 100R12 minimum bend radius and exceeds SAE 100R16 specifications, meaning installation is easy and less hose is used. With a 15% to 35% higher working pressure than SAE 100Rs2 hose, the two-wire braid hose has an oil-resistant, synthetic, high Nitrile rubber tube that handles a variety of fluids. Fast servo valves

Servocartridge valves feature a poppet and sleeve design.

DSHR valves have flow rates up to 165 gpm at 72.5 psi pressure drop and a 12 msec step response time at 100% stroke. SE 3 valves have a frequency response of 170 Hz at -3dB and a 12 msec step response time at 100% stroke. Industrial Controls Div. , Moog, Inc. moog.com Write 316 on PE card

Bearing catalog

Comprehensive 64-p catalog covers the latest improvements in a full line of self-aligning roller bearings. Engineering section provides information on selection and application. Other topics include: seals, mounting, load-rating tables, interchangeability, installation techniques, and lubrication guidelines. Rexnord Bearing Group rexnord.com Write 317 on PE card

High-cycle clutch/brakes

A 6-p color brochure highlights the 2-to-10X higher cycle rates and 5-to-10X longer operating life of the oil-shear Posidyne X Series clutch/brakes. Listed are specifications and performance charts covering torque ranges of 100 to 1000 in.-lb. Force Control Industries, Inc. forcecontrol.com Write 318 on PE card

Applying the binders

A 6-p color brochure details a complete line of general purpose, mill duty, and heavy-duty brakes as well as the Braketronic Controller. The controller provides variable torque control of thruster-operated shoe or disk brakes, replacing high-maintenance, power-assisted air over hydraulic systems. Hot/cold alignment fixture

OL2R fixtures are easy to use and solve a major problem by measuring the true dynamic movement of rotating machinery as it goes from offline (cold) to operating (hot) conditions. This measurement provides the information to intentionally misalign machinery when aligning, ensuring they will grow into an aligned condition when running. Annual Salary Survey

After two years of economic concerns, manufacturing leaders once again have homed in on the single biggest issue facing their operations:

It's the workers—or more specifically, the lack of workers.

The 2017 Plant Engineering Salary Survey looks at not just what plant managers make, but what they think. As they look across their plants today, plant managers say they don’t have the operational depth to take on the new technologies and new challenges of global manufacturing.
