Inaugural minority manufacturing workshop a success

By Plant Engineering Staff December 8, 2006

The National Minority Manufacturing Institute’s minority small manufacturing enterprise (MSME) workshop, Minority Manufacturing — Supply Chain Manufacturing Enterprise, drew representatives from many major corporations to the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore Nov. 15 and 16. The first major public event for the institute’s membership, the workshop was developed to support MSME’s development and innovation for assurance of continued performance alignment with the core needs of major corporations as global supply chain practices continue to evolve and become more stringent.

Highlights of the workshop included U.S.-China Exchange Association president George Wang’s presentation titled, “China and the Minority Manufacturer Corporation: Success in the Global Market,” and a joint announcement by NMMI president David Burton and the USCEA of two upcoming trade missions to China and a dedicated MSME trade mission to China in November 2007.
