As the international gateway to world markets for industrial producers, Hannover Messe will be hosting many special presentations at the 2010 event, scheduled for April 19 to 23 in Hannover, Germany.

Lectures, conferences and forums, seminars and workshops generate global synergies and enable the participants to make new contacts and share knowledge.

The 2010 event features nine international trade shows and a series of educational forums and leadership discussions to address some of the major issues facing manufacturing around the world today.

The 2009 Hannover Messe, conducted in the midst of one of the worst recessions in memory, attracted more than 200,000 attendees from around the world, making Hannover Messe the world’s largest trade fair for manufacturing and industrial knowledge.

The major events at Hannover Fair 2010 include:

World Energy Dialogue

The fifth World Energy Dialogue picks up the exciting debate where earlier WED rounds left it. In 2010 senior executives from the international energy industry and politicians will be discussing such key issues as “What’s going to happen when the oil runs out?”, “How will we power our cars in the future?” and “How do we keep the wheels of industry turning?”

In 2009 the central theme of the World Energy Dialogue was “Security of the Energy Supply.” The growing demand for energy worldwide is forcing us to look for new solutions in energy generation and distribution. The declared aim of this international energy summit to send a clear message — and give a strong lead — to industry and business around the world.

The World Energy Dialogue is jointly organized by the steering committee of the Federation of German Industry (BDI), the German Energy Agency (dena) and Deutsche Messe AG.

The winner of the 2010 Energy Efficiency Award will once again be given for exemplary projects in business and industry that make a real contribution to improving energy efficiency.

MobilTec

E-mobility technologies are the next step towards that future. At the special display E-Motive, which forms part of MobiliTec, the International Trade Fair for hybrid and electric powertrain technologies, mobile energy storage and alternative mobility solutions, research establishments and manufacturers across a range of sectors — including power transmission and control, component supply, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering — will be presenting their latest climate-friendly inventions.

This special display is a joint initiative by Deutsche Messe and the Power Transmission Research Association (FVA) affiliated to the VDMA.

Robotation Academy

The use of robots and automation systems in industry is growing steadily. This is why Deutsche Messe and Volkswagen Coaching decided to set up the Robotation Academy together. It is Germany’s first academy of robotics and automation that is not tied to any one manufacturer.

Housed in Pavilion 36 and equipped with its own stock of machinery, the Academy and its resident experts will be offering a special program of training during Hannover Messe 2010 on an area of more than 2,500 square meters.

There are 10 modules on offer (any of which can be booked singly), where for example beginners can acquire a basic knowledge of robotics and automation. More advanced students can deepen their knowledge in seminars.

The aim of the courses is to bring home to participants the tremendous opportunities that the new technology offers for all businesses. For smaller and medium-sized enterprises in particular these high-tech courses are a great way to prepare their businesses for the challenges of the future.

Gateway2Innovation

Technological progress relies on good ideas and commercially viable innovations. It takes expert know-how to turn an idea into a marketable product.

Research and technology, the innovations market for R&D, supports research establishments and commercial enterprises everywhere in their efforts to bring their inventions to market. In 2010 the show will once again be highlighting the whole issue of technology transfer.

The main focus of interest will be the stand Gateway2Innovation in Hall 2. Here visitors can get expert advice on such matters as patents, financing, standardization and start-ups. Developed from a joint initiative of the Exhibitor Committee for Hannover Messe and Deutsche Messe AG, Gateway2Innovation offers a forum for discussion of all the key issues in the transfer process.

Finance experts, experts from the German Institute of Standards (DIN) and representatives of the Fraunhofer Society will be on hand in Hall 2 to offer advice to visiting professionals, and to arrange introductions at Hannover Messe between those in the market for new ideas and those with ideas to sell.

Global Business & Markets

Global Business & Markets in 2010 is all about new business opportunities and the brokering of expertise and contacts in the main international target markets. This dedicated foreign trade platform serves as a showcase for companies, organizations, international chambers of industry and commerce and leading industry associations interested in positioning their innovations in the global marketplace.

Particularly for SMEs that are keen to develop new sales potential in other countries, this is the ideal place to gather detailed information about foreign markets and to make new contacts. Market leaders from different branches of industry meet up here at conferences, seminars or matchmaking events to compare notes and make contact with potential trading partners in international markets.

Global Business & Markets is a joint initiative by Deutsche Messe AG and the Federation of German Industry (BDI).

TectoYou

There is a shortage of young engineers worldwide. The theoretical shortfall in engineers, according to figures published by the Association of German Engineers (VDI), was approximately 31,000 in July 2009 and 27,000 in August. But what inspires people to pursue a career is not the job market figures, but their own passion?

TechtoYou is a joint project organized by Hannover Messe and the initiative “Germany — Land of Ideas,” under the patronage of Germany’s Ministry of Education and Research.

Now being staged for the fourth successive year, it offers students in the 11th through 13th year of study opportunities to discover what is available to them in terms of industrial apprenticeships and study courses.

A central element of next year’s TectoYou is once again the program of guided tours to selected stands, leading to direct contact with employees of the exhibiting companies. Trained TectoYou guides will be looking after the tour groups for the whole day. Working closely together with the accompanying teachers, they will ensure that the children have a day that is both instructive and enjoyable. The main activity areas for TectoYou 2010 will be Pavilions 33, 34 and 35.

Leading German industry associations VDE, VDMA, BDI and ZVEI actively support TectoYou as an outstanding promotional instrument for youth, for which Hannover Messe — as the world’s biggest display of industrial technology — is the ideal home.

Job and Career Market

According to the Association of German Engineers (VDI), Germany had a shortage of 27,000 engineers in August of this year. So in 2010 the Job & Career Market at the world’s biggest technology show is certain to attract a lot of interest from companies looking to recruit more engineers. And similarly Hall 6 will once again be the first port of call in 2010 for job seekers, from top international executives and young professionals to career entrants and students.

The Job & Career Market offers the full range of recruitment activities. Companies from various sectors will be providing detailed information about career opportunities, while personnel officers from big-name companies will be on hand to offer careers advice and pass on details of internships and work experience placements. Career entrants can get advice on their resumes and application documents, and talk to industry insiders about jobs, trends and opportunities in the job market.

The Career Talks service, a forum for dialogue and lectures aimed at visitors and exhibitors alike, offers a packed program of corporate presentations. Here young people can gather important information about career opportunities, gain a first-hand insight into different companies, talk to experienced professionals and pick up tips from experts.

WoMenPower

Today’s women have to juggle career and family. The 2010 WoMen Power congress shows how that can be made to work. Topics such as equal opportunities in the workplace and work-life balance will be addressed in discussions and workshops.

The aim is to gain insights into the strategies developed by businesses in order to achieve a better integration of work and family in the future. Distinguished women speakers from the business world, politics and industry associations will be examining trends in employment policy.

Since the event was first launched the perception of its role has shifted. What began life as a straightforward gathering for successful women has now broadened its remit to offer opportunities for men as well as women to explore the issues of work-life balance.
