deviceWISE makes connection to Oracle

System testing earns ILS Technology product Oracle certification

02/24/2009

ILS Technology’s deviceWISE platform has been certified for Oracle’s Manufacturing Operations Center , which improves manufacturing efficiency and quality through increased shop-floor visibility. The certification involved testing deviceWISE and PLC in a realistic shop-floor systems environment. The testing and certification for compatibility for real-time connectivity and performance was completed by Geometric, Ltd.

Last year, ILS Technology announced a relationship with Oracle to provide an interface between the devices on the manufacturing floor and Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center. ILS Technology, which is a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, developed a solution as an application extension to deviceWISE that was demonstrated in the Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center booth at Oracle Open World 2008. In recently completed certification tests, the deviceWISE solution earned a 100 percent rating for functionality and performance.

Oracle vice president, manufacturing and product lifecycle management applications development. “The comprehensive testing by Geometric proves that deviceWISE is a robust and reliable way to connect a wide variety of plant floor devices such as PLCs, programmable automation controllers and RFID readers to Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center.”

Annual Salary Survey

After two years of economic concerns, manufacturing leaders once again have homed in on the single biggest issue facing their operations:

It's the workers—or more specifically, the lack of workers.

The 2017 Plant Engineering Salary Survey looks at not just what plant managers make, but what they think. As they look across their plants today, plant managers say they don’t have the operational depth to take on the new technologies and new challenges of global manufacturing.
