2011 AHR Expo Innovation Award Winners are to be honored in Las Vegas

01/03/2011

The winners of the prestigious 2011 AHR Expo Innovation Awards have been selected and will be honored at a special ceremony during the world’s largest HVACR exposition and conference in Las Vegas, January 31 – February 2, 2011.

Representing a broad cross-section of the HVACR marketplace, the winning entries were selected in 10 categories and represent the most innovative new products among the thousands that will be displayed at the Show. A panel of judges made up of ASHRAE members evaluated the products submitted based on innovation, application, value to the user and market impact.

The winners of the 2011 AHR Expo Innovation Awards are:

Building Automation

  • ecobee Energy Management System from ecobee

Cooling

  • DuCool DuTreat System Liquid desiccant Air Conditioner/dehumidifier from Advantix Systems

Green Building

One of the 10 category winners will also be selected as the winner of the 2011 AHR Expo Product of the Year Award. Winners receive placards to display at their booths during the Show as well as an etched crystal award to be displayed at their company’s headquarters. In addition, Honorable Mention awards will be presented to 27 companies in these same 10 categories.

There were a record number of entries this year, up 18 percent from the previous record. The nearly $13,000 generated by the entry fees will be donated to a charitable organization in the Las Vegas area. Since the Innovation Awards inception in 2003, tens of thousands of dollars have been donated to charitable organizations and educational institutions in the cities where the Expo was held.

“We believe it is important to recognize manufacturers that have excelled in turning technology into useful and efficient products,” said Clay Stevens, President of International Exposition Company, which produces and manages the AHR EXPO. “We also want to thank all the companies who submitted entries for making it possible to donate funds to a worthy charitable cause.”

Annual Salary Survey

Before the calendar turned, 2016 already had the makings of a pivotal year for manufacturing, and for the world.

There were the big events for the year, including the United States as Partner Country at Hannover Messe in April and the 2016 International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago in September. There's also the matter of the U.S. presidential elections in November, which promise to shape policy in manufacturing for years to come.

But the year started with global economic turmoil, as a slowdown in Chinese manufacturing triggered a worldwide stock hiccup that sent values plummeting. The continued plunge in world oil prices has resulted in a slowdown in exploration and, by extension, the manufacture of exploration equipment.
