Do the numbers make CO2 a good refrigerant? I just read the response from Ron Vallort (August Forum page 17) which said that CO2 is a good refrigerant because of its high Coefficient of Performance. I looked up in my ASHRAE Fundamentals and found CO2 is 2.56 C.O.P while R-22 is 4.66 C.O.P. Horsepower/ton is 1.

I just read the response from Ron Vallort (August Forum page 17) which said that CO 2 is a good refrigerant because of its high Coefficient of Performance. I looked up in my ASHRAE Fundamentals and found CO 2 is 2.56 C.O.P while R-22 is 4.66 C.O.P. Horsepower/ton is 1.84 for CO 2 and 1.011 for R-22.
Evaporator/condensation pressures are 317.5 / 1031psig for CO 2 and 28 / 158 psig for R-22.
Is CO 2 still a good refrigerant?
