Toyota joins organizations in tree planting
More than 100 volunteers helped plant trees during a Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., Inc.-sponsored event that continues the company's environmental stewardship efforts.
Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., Inc. sponsored a tree-planting at the Oso Lake Reservoir in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, on April 5. More than 100 volunteers, comprised of Toyota associates, scouts and unit leaders from the Orange County Council of the Boy Scouts of America , and representatives from the Arbor Day Foundation worked to plant 100 24-gallon, 8-foot-tall trees at the county’s popular recreational hub.
“We’re very excited to have sponsored this tree planting and to have such a tremendous response from our associates, the boy scouts and the community,” said Shankar Basu, president and CEO of TMHU.
This effort is the latest in TMHU’s partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and is part of the company’s overall global environmental stewardship program. Irvine, CA-based TMHU first partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation in 2006. Since then, 20,000 trees have been planted in national forests that have been damaged by wildfires, insects and disease. In 2008, the company increased its commitment to the Arbor Day Foundation and will plant a tree for every lift truck sold this year.
