Skills enhancement: Supply chain, operations groups partner

Supply Chain Council (SCC) and APICS The Association for Operations Management agreed to offer additional benefits to members of each organization.

APICS offers two certification programs: Certified in Production and Inventory Management, and Certified Supply Chain Professional .

Washington, DC — Two industry organizations have partnered to enhance the skills and knowledge of supply chain and operations management professionals. Supply Chain Council (SCC) announced May 1 that it joined forces with APICS The Association for Operations Management to offer additional benefits to members of each organization.
Under the agreement:

  • Members of SCC are eligible for member pricing on APICS certification exams and educational events;

  • APICS members will benefit from access to SCC SCORmark, a benchmarking offering;

  • APICS will receive member rates for SCC events; and

  • SCC will conduct Webinars for APICS members.

      Commenting on the agreement, APICS chief executive officer Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE, said he expects the move to deepen the skills sets of supply chain and operations management professionals. SCC executive director Joseph Francis adds that APICS education and training programs “provide a foundation for the supply chain improvement activities that SCC promotes. We are excited about the possibilities presented by this alliance.”
      SCC describes itself as a global, nonprofit association whose methodology, diagnostic, and benchmarking tools have helped over 800 organizations make dramatic and rapid improvements in supply chain processes. SCC SCOR process reference model is the “supply chain world’s most widely accepted framework for evaluating and comparing supply chain activities and their performance,” SCC says.

      APICS The Association for Operations Management says it is the “global leader and premier source of the body of knowledge in operations management, including production, inventory, supply chain, materials management, purchasing, and logistics.
