Nearly 1,400 Schneider Electric North American Operating Division customers packed the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, FL, from Sept. 28—30 attending “Initi@tive 2006: the Gateway to the New Electric World.” Schneider Electric showcased its applications and solutions in power, automation and control to its customers and partners.
Schneider Electric’s approach was to show the applicability of its solutions in several specific industries, including water and wastewater treatment, distribution center automation, packaging, control panel building, automation systems and HVAC.
As apparent as the individual products was the revelation of how Schneider is aligning its business units to provide a total solution. Its acquisition of Citect in April, 2006, with its MES, SCADA and HMI solutions; launch of strategic Competency Centers; its decision to brand the Telemecanique PLC line with the Modicon label — as well as make Unity the single programming base for the entire line; and the alignment of its services offerings to complement each area were touted at the event.
Among the announcements at the event was the launch of Schneider’s Motion Competency Center headquartered in Plymouth, MI. Schneider Electric is drawing on the motion control expertise of Berger Lahr, a company of Schneider Electric, and its existing assets, to create a single resource in the United States for all motion functions. The center will offer customers increased proficiency, superior product knowledge and custom solutions in one location.
