Reports determine New Jersey lost fewer manufacturing jobs
Manufacturers’ News, Inc. reports New Jersey lost 14,511 manufacturing jobs from December 2009 to December 2010, compared to 23,798 jobs lost over the 2008-2009 survey period
Industrial employment in New Jersey declined 3.3% over the past year according to the 2011 New Jersey Manufacturers Register, an industrial directory published annually by Manufacturers’ News, Inc. (MNI). MNI reports New Jersey lost 14,511 manufacturing jobs from December 2009 to December 2010, compared to 23,798 jobs lost over the 2008-2009 survey period.
Manufacturers’ News reports New Jersey is now home to 9,746 manufacturers employing 413,080 workers.
Bright spots for the state include several plant openings such as Integrated Microwave Technologies’ facility in Mt. Olive; Schar USA’s plant in Logan; photovoltaic-panel manufacturer MX Solar USA; and Princeton Power Systems’ new plant, which will manufacture energy storage systems for the solar industry.
