NECA 420-2007, Standard for Fuse Applications (ANSI), has just been published by National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), Bethesda, Md. The standard describes installation; maintenance practices; low-, medium- and high-voltage procedures for fuses; application data for fuses; sizing and selection; design considerations; and inspection. The installation section has troubleshooting information, fuse requirement summaries and industry references.

The update to the National Electrical Installation Standards (NEIS) is the first performance and workmanship standards for electrical construction. Referencing the NEIS reduces specification-writing time, provides control over workmanship and long-term performance and acts as an enforceable part of the contract documents to help reduce misunderstandings among engineers, electrical contractors, owners and facility managers.
