By Plant Engineering Staff December 8, 2006

In his new book, Getting the Right Things Done: A leader’s guide to planning and execution, Shingo Prize-winning author and Toyota veteran Pascal Dennis describes the tools, the management system and the behaviors and mental models needed to make strategy deployment work. Also referred to as Hoshin Kanri and policy deployment, strategy deployment is the planning and execution system that Toyota developed to ensure that the company’s strategic objectives drive all of the improvement activities in the rest of the organization.

The book combines a storyline that illustrates a company implementing strategy deployment with a step-by-step approach. It also contains a variety of simple but effective visual tools such as filled-in charts and graphs at every step in the process, dashboards, detailed A3’s and an appendix of blank templates.
