Mathias Klein, founder of Klein Tools, Inc. , Lincolnshire, IL, is to be enshrined as one of the inaugural inductees of the International Lineman’s Hall of Fame. A blacksmith, Klein forged the first-known U.S.-made pliers in Chicago in 1857. He joins Thomas Edison and other industry contributors as members of the hall’s inaugural class.

“It is an honor that my great-great-grandfather’s legacy will forever be recognized by the International Lineman’s Hall of Fame. He would be proud that Klein Tools has diligently continued his work in providing quality hand tools for linemen,” said Mathias A. Klein III, chairman of Klein Tools.

The International Lineman’s Hall of Fame pays tribute to individuals who have contributed to the safety and existence of the electrical industry. Inductees are immortalized in the International Linemen’s Museum and Hall of Fame Memorial Garden in Shelby, NC.
