IMTS 2010: Deutsche Messe to bring Industrial Automation show to IMTS in 2012
Partnership with AMT to create 'one-stop shopping' for American manufacturers in Chicago event.
International trade show promoter Deutsche Messe will bring its successful Industrial Automation show to the United States in 2012 as part of the International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago. The partnership between Deutsche Messe and IMTS will create the largest North American manufacturing trade show and will create what was described as “an all-encompassing one-stop shop” for manufacturing technology and innovation.
Deutsche Messe already promotes Industrial Automation trade events in China, India, Russia and the Middle East, as well as at Hannover Messe, the leading European manufacturing trade event. The combination of industrial automation, machine tools and manufacturing technology at the biennial event in Chicago will continue the path the Association for Manufacturing Technology has pursued with recent partnerships.
“There are a lot of opinions about what will satisfy the customer needs in the manufacturing area,” said AMT president Douglas Woods. “What we’ve been doing with IMTS – with co-locating the Midwest CleanTech show here, with the Emerging Technology Center, with the Student Center – we’re doing what we can to make this the main event for manufacturing.”
“We want to make this a North American event,” said Wolfgang Lenarz, senior VP of global affairs for Deutsche Messe. “We see this as an international show, as a show that can bring European manufacturers to the U.S., but also from China and from other parts of the world.”
“Chicago is a real hub for industry,” said Lenarz. “Combined with IMTS, this will be the place to be for industry. We will do this in close cooperation.”
“We are confident that this expanded ‘two-in-one format’ will attract more exhibiting companies and visitors and bolster recognition of IMTS and Industrial Automation North America as the continent’s leading destination for manufacturing technology,” said Dr. Andreas Gruchow, Member of the Board at Deutsche Messe.
Industrial Automation North America will debut September 10–15, 2012, alongside the International Manufacturing Technology Show 2012 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
