Plant Engineering content manager Bob Vavra will be among the panelists discussing the Internet of Things and its application in manufacturing at Forcam’s second Smart Factory World Symposium on Thursday, June 2 at the Digital Manufacturing & Design Innovation Institute (DMDII), 1415 N. Cherry Ave. in Chicago.

The panel discussion, "The Ecosystem to Change Everything: Bringing IoT to Life" Will be moderated by Bob Zimering, Ph.D., director of Lean Six Sigma at Raytheon Company. Other panelists include:

• Rodger Pinney, CEO and vice chairman of the board at United Grinding North America, Inc.
• Charlie Norz, product manager for the WAGO I/O system at WAGO Corporation
• Tim Leoni, vice-president of sales at Toyoda Machinery USA T

he panels is one of several discussions throughout the day focused on how smart manufacturing and the Industrial Internet of Things can help automation and optimize the manufacturing processes. More than 200 companies are expected to attend, including Pratt & Whitney, ThyssenKrypp, Festo, Ford, General Motors and others.
