Fiber-optic rotary encoder for electromagnetic environments

This non-metallic fiber-optic rotary encoder operates in extreme electromagnetic fields in industrial process plants.

By Plant Engineering Staff June 9, 2008

The TD5207 non-metallic fiber-optic rotary encoder operates in extreme electromagnetic fields in industrial process plants. In operation, the sensor connects to an MR310 Remote Encoder Interface Module via a simplex fiber link. The interface module directly provides conventional digital/analog position and speed feedback signals for the motion control system — typically hydraulic or pneumatic in these applications. The basic encoder offers 200-ppr resolution in a 3-inch square flange housing. Other packages and performance options are also available.
