Factory orders up in March; jobs market mixed

An article that appeared in the New York Times this week indicated that American manufacturing is showing signs of a rebound.

“One thing we are seeing here is that the slump in capital orders is abating,” said Richard J. DeKaser, chief economist for the National City Corporation in Cleveland. “Angst and fears over a recession are diminishing.”
