The Dallas County Community College system has approved a new workforce training center in Garland, TX. The need for more skilled manufacturing workers in an area with more than 350 companies prompted the college board to site the workforce training center. The Dallas Morning News reported that despite some concern from nearby residents that the school would not have a more broad-based curriculum, business and education leaders content the facility is just what the region needs. They said it also fulfills the evolving mission of community colleges to be flexible in finding and developing new ways to serve the community.
