Chrysler to cut jobs, shifts at six plants
On the heels of a new labor deal, automaker to pursue a new round of early retirement offers
Chrysler will cut about 10,000 hourly jobs as part of 12,000 jobs cuts announced Nov. 1. The job cuts will come in the form of early retirement offers to workers, and was announced less than a week after the United Auto Workers narrowly approved a new contract with the automaker.
Plants in Belvidere, IL, Toledo, Brampton, Ont., Detroit, Sterling Heights, MI and the company’s Mack Avenue engine plant in Detroit will all see shifts cut as a part of the plan.
