The Open Design Alliance announced that BricsCad NV has joined as a Founding Member. Founded in 1998, the Open Design Alliance is a non-profit consortium committed to promoting open industry-standards for the exchange of CAD data. Its members include thousands of design, engineering and technology companies. The Open Design Alliance is a leading light in interoperability issues for the engineering software industry and its users.

“The Open Design Alliances software libraries have helped us to consistently improve the quality of our products and to closely follow the evolution of the DWG format,” said Erik De Keyser, CEO of BricsCad.

“Our continued membership growth, seven years after our founding, is a validation of the critical need for independent support for de facto interoperability standards,” said Evan Yares, president of Open Design Alliance. “Our tools allow software developers to provide long-term support for the most widely accepted CAD data formats.”

“For BricsCad, now is the right time to take the next step and become a Founding Member of the Alliance,” continued De Keyser. “BricsCad V6 offers a high degree of compatibility with AutoCAD applications whether they are for single users, small businesses or large corporations. As a Founding Member of the Alliance, we can now work even more closely together, to benefit all our customers. Our development team has deep knowledge of DWG, and we look forward to contributing to the Alliance.”
