The head of a valve manufacturing and distribution company says a $14 million investment plan to expand production will add new jobs and shield existing positions at the Blytheville, Arkansas facility.

Nibco chief executive officer Rex Martin said at a news conference last week that the expansion will add a dozen jobs, allow the company to maintain 19 positions that would have been moved elsewhere and protect the jobs of 250 regular workers. The Blytheville Courier News reports that the facility is gaining an expanded manufacturing plant and the addition of a distribution center, which enables the company to manufacture and ship its products onsite without the need of additional shipping and distribution facilities.

The plant produces iron valves, which are used in the construction of buildings.
