2011 Product of the Year features early entry discount
Entries now open to honor innovation with 24th annual Product of the Year contest
There is no deadline for innovation, but there is a deadline to share your innovative new products in manufacturing with the world. And this year, there are two deadlines.
The 24th annual Plant Engineering Product of the Year entries are now being accepted at www.PlantEngineering.com. The most sought-after honor by manufacturing suppliers, Product of the Year is unique in the industry because Plant Engineering’s global readers vote on the Product of the Year award winners from entries received. Winners will be announced at the 2012 Manufacturing/Automation Summit next March in Chicago, and in the April issue of Plant Engineering magazine, as well as online.
All entries must be submitted online. In 2011, the Product of the Year entry deadline is Friday, September 12 at 5 p.m. CST, and entry fees are $395. For the first time, 2011 will feature an early entry opportunity, and a $100 discount on entry fees. All submissions received before June 30, 2011 will be able to enter for just $295.
“We think this second deadline will be attractive to those companies who may have new products coming out now but who may forget to enter them when the September deadline draws closer,” said Plant Engineering content manager Bob Vavra. “It also creates an incentive for early entry for any of the products. We will be reporting on this new entry progress as the summer goes along.”
The other rules for Product of the Year remain the same. An eligible product must have been introduced in the U.S. market between Oct. 1 2010 and Sept. 30, 2011. It must be substantially new; next-generation entries of past products must demonstrate how the product is significantly different than past versions. There are 18 categories of product entries, and companies may enter as many eligible products as they would like in any category.
Once the finalists have been determined from the entries and announced in the November issue of Plant Engineering, eligible Plant Engineering readers (those with buy-specify authority, as determined by their subscription card) will be sent an electronic voting form. Those votes will be tabulated, and winners informed in early January.
The product that receives the single highest vote total in all categories will received the coveted Product of the Year Grand Award, won in 2010 by Zoneworks.
