M&A Transactions


RESPEC (Rapid City, SD), a consulting and IT solutions firm specializing in the global energy and mining, and national water and natural resources and Government markets announced the acquisition of WRC Engineering (Denver, CO), a specialist provider of technical services in the areas of stormwater, water and wastewater, water rights, and civil and municipal engineering. Link to details  


International architecture and engineering firm Clark Nexsen(Norfolk, VA) merged with architectural firm Pearce Brinkley Cease + Lee (Raleigh, NC), resulting in a combined company of 550 employees. Link to details


International design firm Cuningham Group Architecture(Minneapolis, MN) acquired NTD Healthcare, the healthcare practice of NTD Architecture (San Diego, CA). With the acquisition, three principals and the entire healthcare design staff of NTD Architecture join Cuningham Group Architecture.  Link to details >


Global engineering and construction company M+W Group (Stuttgart, Germany) acquired LifeTek Solutions (Blue Bell, PA), a design and consulting firm focused exclusively on the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Link to details. Earlier this week, M+W Group acquired IPSC GmbH (Schwedt, Germany), a 40-person multidisciplinary consulting and engineering firm to the oil, gas and chemicals sectors. Link to details 


International design, consulting, engineering, and management services firm ARCADIS (Arnhem, Netherlands) acquired SENES Consultants Limited (Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada), a specialist provider of environmental, radiological and risk assessment services for the mining, energy, oil & gas and industrial sectors. The acquisition includes site assessment and remediation services company DCS Limited, an affiliate of SENES. Together, SENES Consultants and DCS have 250 employees and feature just over $30 million in annual revenue. Link to details  


Leading international water and wastewater treatment, environmental engineering and construction services firm MWH Global (Broomfield, CO) announced its intent to acquire Outback Ecology (Perth, Australia), a 75-person environmental consultancy associated with the natural resources and mining industry. Link to details  


International engineering and construction firm Costain Group (Berkshire, UK) announced agreement on the terms of a recommended all-share merger with integrated road and rail construction, engineering and maintenance company May Gurney (Norwich, United Kingdom). Link to details

Annual Salary Survey

Before the calendar turned, 2016 already had the makings of a pivotal year for manufacturing, and for the world.

There were the big events for the year, including the United States as Partner Country at Hannover Messe in April and the 2016 International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago in September. There's also the matter of the U.S. presidential elections in November, which promise to shape policy in manufacturing for years to come.

But the year started with global economic turmoil, as a slowdown in Chinese manufacturing triggered a worldwide stock hiccup that sent values plummeting. The continued plunge in world oil prices has resulted in a slowdown in exploration and, by extension, the manufacture of exploration equipment.
