Weekly merger, acquisition, deal update: August 24
This week Morrissey Goodale tracked five domestic deals and one international transaction. This brings the total year-to-date deal count in the United States to 120, up 12% over the 107 domestic deals tracked through the same period in 2011. Including the U.S., the total global deal count is now 216, equal to the amount of global deals tracked through the same period last year.

In its fourth transaction of the year (and second tracked in two weeks), international architecture and interior design firm Perkins+Will (Chicago, IL) merged with Rocco, Vidal + arquitetos (São Paulo, Brazil), a 50-person award-winning architecture, planning and interior design firm specializing in corporate, residential and interior design work and known for itsbold, contemporary designs that integrate the natural environment with ecologically sensitive design strategies. Moving forward, the practice will be known as RoccoVidal P+W and will become the base of operations for Perkins+Will in South America. Link to details

Nationally recognized scientific and engineering consulting company Integral Consulting (Seattle, WA) acquired the New York City assets and operations of environmental risk management firm ELM Group (New York, NY). Integral Consulting provides science and engineering consulting services in health, environment, technology and sustainability from multiple offices across the U.S. As a result of the acquisition, Integral will now provide its numerous clients a dedicated and local resource in the New York regulatory, property development and redevelopment markets and provide a platform for further expansion into the New York environmental and engineering markets. Energy planning and design firm Salas O'Brien (San Jose, CA) acquired architectural, mechanical and electrical engineering, and interior design firm KDW (Seattle, WA). The newly combined business, expected to be called KDW Salas O'Brien, is estimated to have 125 employees, more than 30 of whom are registered engineers, architects and communications distribution engineers. Multi-discipline engineering and environmental services firm Maser Consulting (Red Bank, NJ) acquired multi-discipline engineering firm TMG Consulting Engineers (Allentown, PA). Former TMG owner, Tony M. Ganguzza, specializing in municipal and site civil engineering, will remain on as a consultant to the firm. Link to details

Architecture and design firm 5G Studio Collaborative (Dallas, TX) acquired DVA Architecture (Atlanta, GA), a full-service architecture and interior design firm focused on new builds, renovations, and additions for entertainment facilities, hotels, universities, commercial and senior housing projects. Leading international energy services company Wood Group (Aberdeen, Scotland) acquired Duval (Houston, TX), a 300-person provider of maintenance, installation and fabrication services in the Eagle Ford shale region of Texas. Moving forward, Duval will operate as Wood Group Duval. Wood Group is a 41,000 person international energy services company that features three businesses providing engineering, production support and maintenance and repair services to the oil and gas and power generation markets worldwide. The acquisition of Duval is meant to provide a platform for Wood Group in the key Eagle Ford shale region and increase its overall exposure to the U.S. onshore unconventional oil and gas markets. 2012 Salary Survey
In a year when manufacturing continued to lead the economic rebound, it makes sense that plant manager bonuses rebounded. Plant Engineering’s annual Salary Survey shows both wages and bonuses rose in 2012 after a retreat the year before.
Average salary across all job titles for plant floor management rose 3.5% to $95,446, and bonus compensation jumped to $15,162, a 4.2% increase from the 2010 level and double the 2011 total, which showed a sharp drop in bonus.
