UV Leak Detection Lamp offers spot-beam, broad-beam coverage

Spectronics Corporation offers BIB-150P UV Inspection Lamp, detects industrial leak;, concentrated spot bulb, broad-beam bulb provide versatility

Spectronics Corporation produces the BIB-150P ultraviolet inspection lamp. This hand-held UV lamp, with its unique 150-watt Built-In-Ballast bulb, is ideal for pinpointing industrial leaks such as oil, hydraulics, refrigerant, gasoline, diesel fuel or water.

Simply add the appropriate fluorescent dye and let it circulate with the specific lubricant. The dye will escape with the host fluid wherever there is a leak. When the system is scanned with the BIB-150P, the dye will glow brightly at the leakage area.

The housing on the BIB-150P is constructed of a super-strong engineering polymer that is reportedly dent-proof and impact-resistant. The lamp’s filter is crack-resistant and is protected by a filter holder that is easily removable for bulb and filter maintenance. The ergonomically designed handle is positioned for better balance, easier handling and reduced hand fatigue over long periods of use.

The unit can be supplied with a concentrated spot bulb for an intense UV beam that produces a nominal steady-state 365nm intensity of 4,500 µW/cm² at 15 in/38 cm. If wider-area coverage is needed, the broad-beam spot bulb should be used; this bulb produces an intensity of 4,000 µW/cm² at 15 in/38 cm. Both bulbs have an average rated life of 5,000 hours and can withstand rough use.
